We decided not to use palm oil because by sourcing it we would be contributing to deforestation and monoculture farming. 

Whatever the blurb reads, it is not ecologically acceptable to make soap using palm oil from anywhere.

 

Many soap companies use palm oil (ingredient listed as 'sodium palmate') because although it is not necessary to the product, it is the cheaper option.
